Has anyone wrote as in a saint concerning destroying cardinal sins of lust and pride? I am guessing that one of the most powerful ways to get rid of these things is the rosary. I have heard Padre Pio used the rosary more than any other devotion. I also want a prayer to strengthen the 3 virtures of grace. BTW also did Augutine write anything concernign ontology or cosmology?

I’m not sure if Augustine himself wrote anything about cosmology himself, though it’s quite possible. I remember one of the reasons he fell away from the Manichaeans was because one of their religious doctors had so few answers about such things, so it’s possible that Augustine eventually wrote something about cosmology.

Here is the Litany of Humility, which is a very useful prayer for eliminating pride:

Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val (1865-1930),
Secretary of State for Pope Saint Pius X

O Jesus! meek and humble of heart, Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the desire of being loved…
From the desire of being extolled …
From the desire of being honored …
From the desire of being praised …
From the desire of being preferred to others…
From the desire of being consulted …
From the desire of being approved …
From the fear of being humiliated …
From the fear of being despised…
From the fear of suffering rebukes …
From the fear of being calumniated …
From the fear of being forgotten …
From the fear of being ridiculed …
From the fear of being wronged …
From the fear of being suspected …

That others may be loved more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.

That others may be esteemed more than I …
That, in the opinion of the world,
others may increase and I may decrease …
That others may be chosen and I set aside …
That others may be praised and I unnoticed …
That others may be preferred to me in everything…
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should…

I find the rosary powerful when my mind is in the wrong place because it requires some commitment, and by the end of it, I have completely reshaped my mind. Although I often wander a bit in the middle decades, by the Hail Holy Queen, I’ve harnessed some serenity and perspective. I can get one done in about 15 minutes (without feeling like I’ve gone too fast) - and have learned to use my fingers to count in times where pulling out a rosary would be too distracting to others.

FWIW.

Yes, the Rosary.

I’d recommend it with the Penitential Rosary Crusade Prayer, as that prayer asks Our Blessed Mother for every thing that is her will with her Rosary. You can find it here:

“get rid of these things…”?

Brother, anything that is intrinsically evil…(like porn),must be cut off. Every avenue, every occasion of sin must be physically avoided whenever possible. This takes planning your day as well as prayer.
