Priest covering clothing during mass - pant legs and shoes?

OK, I think we need to make a search of the all the vestement supply stores…😛
 
I suspect that many priests, (unlike the Pope) do not have their cassocks and vestments made especially for them, and so the fit is not always perfect. They are often second-hand, or belong to the church. I know for sure that is often the case for severs etc. who have to make due with what fits best and hope there are not too many the same size. And although an alb can fairly asily be adjusted to the right length, a too-long cassock doesn’t work well or look right, and so too short ends up being the best option.

I had never heard of altar slippers, but back when I was a server we were told to wear conservative shoes that would not distract people.
 
I believe Nike actually makes a comfortable “tennie on the inside/dress black shoe on the outside” for clergy to wear so that they might be comfortable with all the standing that comes with multiple weekend services.
 
Getting back to the question of what the rules are, I found in the GIRM
  1. The sacred garment common to ordained and instituted ministers of any rank is the alb, to
    be tied at the waist with a cincture unless it is made so as to fit even without such. Before the alb is put on, should this not completely cover the ordinary clothing at the neck, an amice should be put on.

This is the only mention of “ordinary clothing” in the GIRM - the current GIRM, at least, is not concerned with trousers and shoes. Are there other documents that regulate liturgical apparel?

I’m not sure why, but there is something about those red shoes that really bothers me. They are just way too red.
