Columbus Indiana? Not Columbus Ohio.

COLUMBUS, Ind. — As a priest, Father Christopher Wadelton knows all about helping people through tough times. When one of his parishioners needed a kidney transplant, he wanted to help.

“Ask people around the congregation if they might consider being checked and just by the hand of God it turned out that I was a compatible donor,” he told 13News while sitting on the front porch with Rebeca Barcenas and her two daughters.

“Did you ever believe it would be your priest,” 13News asked. “No,” she answered with laughter.

Good story, there was something like this about 6 months ago, the Priest OR maybe it was a School teacher donated something… but this is really very self-less. Bless his heart.

Great story,

But I have difficulty with this way of processing:
“Ask people around the congregation if they might consider being checked and just by the hand of God it turned out that I was a compatible donor,”
Just ask people around in a Church and it seems in public if they want to give an organ seems unethical. People in a Church often has not string links enough to make a gift of themselves, of their flesh.
What would happened if one is known to refuse. Would it be shamed by others? What if the woman had died because of a lack of an organ? Would some people be seen as responsible because they were selfish and don’t want to give an organ? What if some people get test just because of the pressure, and to not appeared being selfish? And would be relieved if not and very annoyed if yes?

A fruit of liberalism. Many more restrictive legislations would keep this living organ gift to a close family member or maybe a close old friend.
