Is there any requirement on which Priest you see for Confession at any given time? Do you have to go to the same one every time?

Nope. You can pick a priest unknown to you, or one whose perceptiveness appeals to you due to homilies you’ve heard or informal observations. All priests are trained to hear confessions.

Some people (myself included ;)) like eventually to find and settle on one confessor (even behind the screen) because of the continuity of that. But there’s absolutely no requirement to stick with one. It’s whatever the penitent feels comfortable with. Lots of people like to have a variety of confessors because each one may offer different insights and counsel.

no you can confess to any Catholic priest

most people find it spiritually helpful to have a regular confessor, and especially those who battle with scrupulosity find it a necessity, but there is no law about it.

You can go to whomever you please. You can go to a priest from your own parish or from another parish. It can be someone you know or someone you will likely never see again — it is 100% your choice.

I find it beneficial to see the same confessor because he knows me and knows my personal situation and what I’m struggling with. I love it when he says, "Hi! So good to see you. I was thinking about you the other day and how this Scripture passage reminded me of xxxxxx .”

I figure that if you can humble yourself to confess, go where one is available and get the grace available…God speaks through them all.

If you’re just coming back to the sacraments after years away and find yourself intimidated by the entire process of confession, you can hop in your car, drive a hundred miles, go to a Catholic church and find a priest for confession if the absolute anonymity and distance helps you get back. It’s just important that you get to confession!
