Why does the Catholic Church ignore the husband whose life has been ruined by a priest that had an affair and a baby with his wife?

I was told it wasn’t in the interest of the Church to help in any way and to go see my spiritual advisor. I never asked for anything and was never granted any discussion with anyone else.

What is it you want from the Church? What kind of help are you seeking?

And yes, you should speak to a spiritual advisor.

I did and do see a spiritual advisor. I thought maybe there would be some type of outreach or sympathy expressed instead of ‘we didn’t know what to say’. It would have been nice to have some professional counseling provided.

The leadership of my diocese was corrupt at the time, and the bishop removed. I wouldn’t even know where to start at the moment. Nobody seems to care because the child misconduct cases overshadow

I also feel that it was a representative of the church that destroyed my marriage. Anything other than just sweeping it under the rug.

I can’t find a lawyer that will touch it, they all say it was two consenting adults.

Well, I know you might not want to hear this, but your wife had a big part in this as well. You cannot lay all of the blame on the Church. I don’t know where things stand with you and your wife, or if you have children together, but you should continue with counseling even if it means you have to get it on your own.

I am sorry this has happened to you. Infidelity is difficult under any circumstances, but I see how distressing this is for you.

there was an affair involving a priest that involved a child being born and you can’t find a lawyer to touch it???
