Last year I met an Indian Priest (His name is George, from Kerala) who had moustache without beard. I confused in this matter whether it allowed or not?
Actually years ago Capuchins by “custom” were wearing long beards - today it is not the “common custom” but often in photos of past generations you wil note they are all “long bearded”.A priest can have a moustache alone, a beard alone, a moustache and beard, or neither. Facial hair is not regulated on priests.
Do you have any references?A priest can have a moustache alone, a beard alone, a moustache and beard, or neither. Facial hair is not regulated on priests.
It’s kind of difficult to reference something that doesn’t exist, namely a regulation. If there was a rule of any kind, it would be against facial hair. In the absence of such a rule, we can assume that all kinds are allowed.Do you have any references?
I don’t know where you’re from, but I’ve seen several priests with just mustaches here in the U.S. I had heard that the archbishop of Galveston-Houston frowns on any facial hair on the priests, but I don’t think it’s a rule, since I see all types in this archdiocese.I heard from my childhood, Priests are not allowed to have moustache alone and I never seen a Priest with moustache alone in 42 years. I saw only one Priest last year with moustache. So I believe their might be a law.
AmazingThe burning issue of the day???
(What about that priest in Black Diamond? He has an earring in one ear, what about that???)
Yes, it’s true. He’s well known in the Archdiocese of Seattle. Very well loved, I hear…Amazing
