This type of half-truth telling and misrepresentation of Catholic teaching is nothing new. Sites like this one abound on the net. Nothing any Catholic could say would make a dent in such people’s thinking. They are the Michael Moores of religion–innuendo and scare tactics stand in for truth and fair dealing as long as it gets them what they want. My advice is to let them go their own way, but pray for them and those like them. Remember, there are none so blind as those who WILL NOT see.

I don’t think the Catholic Church teaches that priests are other Christs. I thought the Church teaches that Jesus works through the priests. (I’m not Catholic, btw.)

Prayers for the dead is in Maccabes. And I think St Paul mentions praying for them too.

The sign of the cross was not invented in 300. St Justin Martyr mentions Christians making the sign of the cross in his First Apology.

There’s so much errors on that one page, I don’t even know where to begin.

I believe Karl Keating dealt with many of those “dates” in his book Catholicism and Fundamentalism

You are right, the Catholic Church does not teach that Catholic priests are “other Christs” in the way that site states the teaching. Rather, the CC teaches that our priests, by reason of their ordination, stand in Christ’s place, which is an entirely different concept, isn’t it. 👍
