Does anybody know any good resources for my parents concerning my interest in priesthood? I’m a convert and considering priesthood, and I just want to get maybe like a general letter to parents from a vocations director thats already online…I’ve gotten some general FAQ sections of various vocations websites, but nothing too great thus far…

This won’t help too much, but talk to your parish priest with your parents. Have a sit down meeting with you and him and your parents. I will post more later, when more thoughts come to me. Thank you for considering the priesthood. 👍 I am 19, going to be a freshman at Steubenville, OH, and I am also discerning the priesthood 👍

Check out Youth-discernment.com There is a lot of information there. ( I used to be active on the website, until my busy summer has come along) and I believe vocations.com is a good site. I hope this kind of helps 🤷

Sorry for the double post but have you seen fishers of men? If you haven’t you can download it, (a pretty big file say 80 MB, for PC use) or you can buy the actual dvd. It is at usccb.org/vocations/

Do you have AIM or Yahoo IM?

Excellent suggestion:thumbsup: 👍

You could plug your lap top up and download it from the stickies right here. Very inspiring.

God’s blessings on your vocation.

In Christ,

Rev North

You may not have thought of this, but calling a seminary and inquiring if there are any seminarians in similar shoes and talking to them might be of great help.

I attended seminary for a year. About 40% of the student population at my house of formation were converts.

Dear Ry,
BLESS YOU, for considering the priesthood. I am a mother of 5 who prays for religious vocations everyday. My sons are 12 and 8years. Know that you and your parents will be in my prayers too. My suggestion would be talk to the parents of friends who are discerning priesthood (hopefully supportive parents), or contact a seminarian, perhaps write a letter and ask for their advice. Keep in mind that many priests have been in your shoes, don’t hesitate to consult one of them. Ask the Lord to lead you to someone who will guide you properly; He will.

May the Lord bless you during this time of discernment.

It sounds like you are catholic and your parents are not. If this is the case and you are looking for support advice as you post mentions I’d suggest contacting The Coming Home Network. They deal with family issues when one person has converted and others question and or want more knowledge on what has happened. It is a great support group:
