I know the difference in a priest and bishop, but not so much the difference in bishop, archbishop, and cardinal. I know the position of the pope, but didn’t want to leave him out of the title lol.

So, what is the difference in these positions?

Cardinals are honorary clergy of Rome (it’s why even Cardinals from elsewhere in the world are assigned parishes in Rome). They also are electors of the Pope.

The Pope is the Bishop of Rome–that’s his diocese. He’s also the chief bishop for the whole world.

I believe Archbishops have some limited authority over other bishops in their province. They are given a special garment–the pallium–which symbolizes the delegation of some of the Pope’s authority (since the Pope is the only bishop with authority over other bishops by virtue of his office–all other bishops are equal).
