The priest of my parish is having 40th jubilee! How exciting! He did my baptism, confirmation and first communion; so he has a very special place in my heart. I’d love to get him a gift (I’m a gift giver). What would be a good gift for him?

Unless you know him as a friend, know that priests usually have more religious articles, books, etc than they know what to do with.

Offer him a Spiritual Bouquet or get him a gift card for someplace that sells gas for his car (around here, grocery stores have gas pumps, like Kroger and WalMart). The Secretary can give you ideas if he has a particular interest (playing golf, fishing, cooking) and you could get a gift card for a round of golf or to a sporting goods store.

TheLittleLady has offered excellent suggestions.

If you knew him well, perhaps cufflinks for his shirts

Of if he likes a particular wine or scotch or whiskey - I’ve given my priests a good quality bottle of spirits before - which they’ve all (3) shared and it was appreciated.

Gift cards work well, including those for places to eat.

Ask the secretary if he wears french, 2 button double fold or single cuffs before buying cuff links. Clergy shirts that require cuff links are available, however, I do not know that I have ever seen a priest wearing one!
