To my Eastern brothers and sisters:
Can a married priest hear his wife’s confession and absolve her of her sins? I don’t know any Eastern Catholic married priests.
Thank you and God bless!

Theoretically possible but would almost never happen. Priests and their wives, children usually confess to another priest

In my experience with Oriental orthodox and melkite friends, as SM said, the priests own immediate family sees another priest usually. However, I do know of siblings confessing to their own brother (the priest in this situation).

In my Eastern Orthodox Church, my priest’s wife and mother-in-law make the two-hour drive to the next nearest Church to make their confession.

This is really interesting. I am curious if a confession to a RC priest would not be valid? I would think 2.5 hour drive would be extra ordinary enough circumstances that some sort of arraignment could be made with a closer RC church (if there is one).

Well, we’re Eastern Orthodox, not Eastern Catholic, so we’re not in communion at all with the Roman Catholic Church (which there are quite a few of around here). But we’re in Texas, so two-hour drives aren’t that uncommon 😉
