Hello all,

Every now and then I stop in on the evangelisation sub forum to rant about a Protestant sect (which I now believe to be our local Baptist church) leaving dozens of ‘‘Where will you spend Eternity?’’ pamphlets everywhere in Church. Even on our prayer intentions board which I find wholly disrespectful. I found them in the magazines the Church sells, even found them in my local library jammed into the pages of the Catechism and books on other religions

On the way home from work yesterday I stopped in for a quick prayer. As I went around binning the Protestant warnings splashed across the Church I saw pamphlets in Polish, they looked different to the ‘‘Eternity’’ ones but were put up in exactly the same ‘‘blanket coverage’’ fashion, leading me to believe that the pamphlet poster is the same as the Alpha course person .I don’t speak any Polish but I recognised ‘‘Kurs Alfa’’ and ‘’[insert town name] Baptist Church’’ . These pamphlets went in the bin too. The ‘‘New Polish’’ are by far the most knowledgeable and faithful Catholics at our Church. They have no need of a Baptist delivered Alpha course. Especially not with RCIA just starting up.

I want to print up some Catholic tracts, perhaps on the Rosary or our fundamental beliefs. I want to distribute these around the Church as a countermeasure to the aggressive proselytism we’re experiencing. Perhaps even return the favour to my Baptist brother or sister when I see them placing their tracts everywhere 😉

Any ideas on where to start? Or better yet a website where I can print these for free? I intend to save up some money and buy Catholic Truth Society products but at the moment don’t have enough money.

God bless,

Peter

EDIT: Also looking for specific counterarguments to typical Baptist/general Protestant gripes, for myself so that I can offer a counterpoint, for the parishioners themselves, and finally for this Baptist brother/sister.

Finally we’re under a very lackluster ‘‘attack’’ by the Watchtower society, who have left their magazines in various languages all around the church a few times a year. So any counterarguments to JW/Arian heresy would be appreciated.

You can get printable tracts right here at Catholic Answers. Go to the home page, and click on “Library.” They have a whole list of tracts on various subjects which you can print out for free.

I just bought the book The Faith of Our Fathers at the Book Store next to Westminster Cathedral. I think they had more copies. It’s by James Cardinal Gibbons. It’s from May 1st 1917 but really well written readable and is exactly what I think you are looking for. I’m on p148 of 361. Once I finish I can drop it in the post for you if you want me to send it. Drop me a message here.

On another note, I just moved here from the states and am out in the Northwood Area. Any recommendations for a good Orthodox Church further out from London in the Hertforshire area? I just got a car and can actually get around now. The past two weekends I’ve ventured into the Cathedral via the tube and was looking for something I can either drive to or something on either the the Metropolitan line or the Overground line.

Thanks
Joe
