I’m a recent convert, and I’ve agreed to do some prison ministry work two times a month. I will be there for around an hour or so each time and I’ll be by myself. I’m wondering if anyone here has any suggestions or knows of any resources that might help me plan how I’ll spend the hour. I’m excited, and a bit nervous, too, because I want to do a good job! Thanks!

You could have a retreat for the prisoners.

A retreat might not last but a few days but it might change the prisoners for the better. MercyFire Prisoner Ministries does retreats for prisoners nationwide. I’m sure that they will give you a active role during the retreat. I have listed there website below.

Thanks so much! I wasn’t familiar with anything of the sort. I’ll check it out.

To the OP, I’m looking to help out with Prison Ministry too in my area. I’m told I will receive some guidance from those who already help with this in the jails that I will be visiting, so that is good news.

I’m just curious on what you have been doing and some other pointers.

God bless,

John

God bless you 2 for your desire to preach the Gospel to those in prison who so desperately need it. I’ll pray that you 2 have a successful ministry in this. 🙂

Also, just wanted to share this awesome story (which can be read here) about a former mobster who had a complete turn-around due to prison ministry volunteers, and now leads a healing service every 2nd Friday of the month, and is known to have been blessed by God to have a charism of healing others. I actually attended his last healing service, and I remember more than half the people that were prayed over appeared to have been slain in the spirit after he and the prayer team prayed over them. One of them even had a demon exorcized from them.
