In our deanery of the diocese, we have a Prison Ministry to two Texas Department of Criminal Justice facilities for women. We will have our 2nd ACTS Retreat in November for one of these facilities; and the first one for the other facility in February.
These “ladies in white” are so hungry for the Word of God and frequently ask for a priest to visit for Confession and Mass. It is such a privilege to be able to serve these ladies–all ages, sizes, hair colors and physical conditions–The Body of Christ.
“I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” Matt 25:36
If you are involved in Prison Ministry, would you please share your experiences.
If you are not involved in Prison Ministry, do you know there are other ways to support the ministry? Your prayers first of all, 2) Catholic Bibles in Spanish or English are always needed, 3)any prayer cards-minimum of 50 (No lamination allowed), 4) children’s books and, 5) spiritual books for the prison library.
