What in the world’s going on?

Yesterday it was the “Today Show”, and then today it’s the Vice President of the United States.

Already courting the pro abortion catholic Democrats for the next election?

I don’t understand how he can call himself Catholic while being pro-choice. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. However, I don’t want to get into that here as there is another thread dedicated to it.🙂

Or present himself before the Pope. He and Pelosi.

Is the Obama administration attempting to manufacture a public “rubber stamping” of their policies by being photographed beside the Pope in a cordial handshake?

Hopefully that can be put to a stop if we find out the Pope updated Joe on the Catholic position in regards to abortion/birth control.

God Bless,
Tony

I heard today that no photos were allowed. I believe the same was true for Pelosi.

I hope he took both of them to the woodshed!!

Officially he’s not Catholic period. If Vice President Joe Biden advocates a self-professed Pro-Abortion stance in keeping with his political objectives he automatically excommunicates himself from the Catholic Church whether he realizes it or not.

Will the Pope, a Cardinal, Bishop or Priest inform him that he’s officially excommunicated?
Perhaps not. If the Vice-President attends Mass is there any priest brave enough to tell him he can’t receive the Blessed Sacrament while in the state of mortal sin?

Not likely. But if Joe Biden is truly Catholic he should know all this himself.

Joe Biden din’t excommunicate himself.Wake up people there are many prochoice catholics like him!

No. There are many pro-abortion people who call themselves Catholic. That is not the same thing. It is not possible to be both Catholic and pro-abortion. Period. There is no wiggle room here. There is no gray area. You are either for life, or you are for death. That is all.

No Catholic can responsibly take a “pro-choice” stand when the “choice” in question involves the taking of innocent human life.

Resolution on Abortion (1989)

We urge those Catholic officials who choose to depart from Church teaching on the inviolability of human life in their public life to consider the consequences for their own spiritual well being, as well as the scandal they risk by leading others into serious sin. We call on them to reflect on the grave contradiction of assuming public roles and presenting themselves as credible Catholics when their actions on fundamental issues of human life are not in agreement with Church teaching. No public official, especially one claiming to be a faithful and serious Catholic, can responsibly advocate for or actively support direct attacks on innocent human life. [N]o appeal to policy, procedure, majority will or pluralism ever excuses a public official from defending life to the greatest extent possible. As is true of leaders in all walks of life, no political leader can evade accountability for his or her exercise of power (Evangelium Vitae, 73-4). Those who justify their inaction on the grounds that abortion is the law of the land need to recognize that there is a higher law, the law of God. No human law can validly contradict the Commandment: “Thou shalt not kill.”

Pro-Abortion “Catholic” Vice President Joe Biden Meets with Pope

The Vatican – Vice President Joe Biden, an abortion advocate who calls himself a Catholic, met with Pope Benedict XVI at The Vatican today in an unannounced trip where few details are available.

Few, almost none, are pro abortion, or abortion advocates. Many are pro choice and advocates of that position. It is an important distinction. If you did not insist on misrepresenting the other sides position, you might find some common ground. For example in increased funding for adoption services, or education that includes elements acceptable to a wide range of views.
It is just as wrong when prochoice people describe all pro-life people as Doctor assassins or people who only want to subjugate women.
I know this is an important issue to many of you. But let’s try to use language that has some possibility of bringing people together, rather than being devicive.

So how would you classify Joe Biden’s position then if he is not to be referred to as pro-abortion? His voting record shows him voting for expansion to abortion consistently. Especially in light of what was just posted above.

According to the rules of the Church, if he has been Baptized Catholic, then there is an indelible mark on his soul that makes him Catholic whether he likes it or not, whether we like it or not, etc. That’s not going to change no matter what choices he makes in life. If the Church calls him Catholic, it’s not appropriate for anyone to say that he is not Catholic. If VP Joe Biden was Baptized Catholic, then he is Catholic. Period.

Even if a person is “ex-communicated”, he or she is still Catholic. Being excommunicated means one cannot take Communion. They are still, however, expected to fulfill their other Catholic oblibgations, such as attend Mass, etc.

We could hope he had a sincere and complete confession, true contrition, and a firm purpose of amendment.

peace

I have never heard of a politician now in power who advocates openly for the Cathlolic position on direct abortion to be the law of their country. No one gets up and gets elected by saying they will legislate ‘no’ to abortion in every circumstance. The Church’s de facto position is to support politicians who seek to reduce the number of abortions by making it more difficult to get one. Most ‘pro-choice’ politicians actually seek the same thing, although the Church also opposes the most obvious ways of achieving this on the basis of a belief in something called ‘natural law’ which despite its alleged ‘naturalness’ fails to convince anyone told about it unless they do so on faith.

There are many who may pretend they are Catholic, but to truly adhere to Catholic teaching, one cannot claim to be pro-choice on any issue concerning the life of another human being.

The Holy Father has some remarks about what being Catholic means in terms of a culture of life and adherence to Catholic teachings in all aspects of our lives.
