I would like to get involved with a Pro-Life group. How do I go about doing so? I do not live in a city, however a larger city is about 45 minutes away from me. I am willing to drive the distance every now and then in order to participate.

I was not sure if there was a website or general group to contact that would have information on a group near my location.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would suggest a couple of things. There are many opportunities for involvement in pro-life activities, from the parish to the national level.

First, contact your diocese and determine what sort of pro-life ministries already exist. Do they have a Gabriel Project (assistance to mothers in crisis pregnancy) at various parishes, can you start one at your own? Do they have a Helpers of God’s Precious Infants group (pray and sidewalk counsel at abortion clinics)? Can you start one? Are there any Catholic-run crisis pregnancy centers you can volunteer at?

Secondly, find out if there is a pro-life group that sidewalk counsels, prays, or does community activism in your area. Just search the internet for Pro-Life and Indiana-- or contact American Life League (www.all.org) to find out if they have an Indiana affiliate.

Third, raise your prolife awareness by joining a couple of organization where you will receive pro-life newsletters information. I suggest American Life League where you will receive the Celebrate Life magazine and newsbulletins. Also, Pro-Life Action League out of Chicago is another organization to get in touch with-- they provide pro-life training (including a great video I ordered and watched) and information, newsletters, etc. Priests for Life is the third organization you should get on the e-mail list with.

For pro-life literature and information visit www.omsoul.com and www.all.org for brochures.

Good luck, and God Bless!

Excellent Post!!

Crobynb,

Our area is opening up a Catholic Crisis Center in the western burbs of Chicago in late September. I have been looking to get more active in Pro-Life and now the time has come. The name of it is “Womens Choice Services”. I know the name is deceiving but the Pro-Aborts have highjacked the word “choice” for a long time & now its the Pro-Lifers time to reclaim the word. If interested, here is the website for contact information…
