Greetings!

Does anyone know of a program (or have ideas) for gently introducting pro-life concepts for preschoolers?

Our parish Respect Life board would like to start working with the young un’s but not quite sure how to start.

Thanks!

Debbie

While I don’t know of any programs for pre-schoolers they should be taught to pray the Hail Mary and to understand St. Gabriel did not tell Mary she was going to be a mother rather he asked for her consent, her fiat, her yes. When children understand that Jesus took on our human nature and became as small and helpless as a baby they will begin to appreciate how the mystery of the Incarnation elevates each one of us. Little prayer cards for the children with images of the Child Jesus would also be a good devotion to start.

Fundamentally though, children know the truth already: they have to be taught to fear life to the point of killing it.

I think this is a beautiful pro-life children’s book -angelinthewaters.com/
my 5 & 3 year old daughters loved it.
Come to think of it, my parish had a “pro-life” table and were handing out cute little plastic unborn baby"dolls" - my girls latched on to those, carrying them around and playing with them. It’s kind of like “the emporor’s new clothes” - proaborts talk about “fetus” or “blob” or “product of conception” but any child, shown a picture, will tell you “it’s a baby!”

Pre-schoolers… no.

But I will be showing my 11 years old those pictures of aborted babies (well, some of them) soon though. He needs to know the truth before someone tells him lies and he’ll be in highschool soon.

There are some very beautiful pictures of foetal development. Talk about the ‘baby’ as it grows. These photos will not traumatise little children and will help to plant the seed that life begins at conception.

Mention the scripture verses about God knowing a person before they are formed, and how He has cared for them even before they were born, and ‘knew’ them before their mother and father knew they were growing in the womb.

Start with just simple things, adding more detail as the child grows older.

Ewtn childrens web site. Go into the white house and go to Grace’s bedroom and on the wall is a footprints picture. Click on it and read the story of life from embryo to birth. It is beautiful my grand daughter asks me to read it all the time. Plus you can get Grace dressed in different outfits and have fun playing. It is great for the little ones.
