UNION OF BREST - PECHERSKA LAVRA STUDY

Austrian fund ***Pro Oriente ***is financing research for book on history from 1576-1646 in Ukraina regarding Union of Brest to make Greko Catolic church. This research group has both romoCatolic, Greko Catolic and Orthodox members.

The group of church scientists is now meeting at the Kievo-Pecherskaja Lavra for fourth investigation .

In research of Brest Union are taking part the president of the fund*** Pro Oriente*** Iohann Marte (Austria), archbishop Vrotslavskij and Shetinskij Ieremiah (Polish Orthodox Church), president of department of external ecclesiastical relations of Ukrainian Orthodox church, archimandrite Kirill (Govorun), rector of Ukrainian Catolic university professor priest Boris Hudziak (L’vov), professor of Institute of Theology and history of Christian East and catolic theology faculty of Vienna University priest Ernst Krystof Sutner (Austria), professor of institute of history of Belostovsksij university Anton Mironovich (Poland) professor Frantsishek Marek (Poland), dean of institute of history of church of Ukrainian Catoic Univeristy Oleh Turij (L’vov), president of the Orthodox St Tikhon Humanities University Vladislav Petrusko (Moscow - but native of L’vov), president of Kiev Spiritual Academy Vladimir Burega (Kiev), and general secretary of Pro Orient fund Marion Wittin (Austria).

I am very pleased they have chosen Fr. Borys Gudziak; his doctoral work at Harvard was on the Union and he is the world’s most respected authentic historical expert on the subject.

INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE: Kyivan Church: historical tradition, historgraphical problem, ecumenical perspective"

This is being held at Museum of National Kyivo Mohiljanska Akademija in Kyiv. In this conference are participating Greko Catolics, Ukrainian Orthodox, as well as members of Kyivan patriarchate church and avtokefana Church. Catolic speakers include Jurij Avakumov from L’viv taking about Mitropoit Andrei Sheptitskij, Kyivan ecclesiastical tradition and Russian Greko Catolics.** Tomas Nemet** from Vienna: Reconsideration of Kyivan tradition in contemporary Ukrainian Greko Catholic church: problematic questions and canonical perspectives. Also **Elene Bejakova: **Canonical tradition in fate Kyivan and Moskovian mitroopolij.
