Has the Church spoken about the morality of profiling/not profiling for police/government purposes? i.e. deliberately targeting groups of people that are statistically prone towards certain crimes.
Not sure how using statistics could be immoral. (Perhaps what your definition of “targeting” is might make a difference.)
Example: Lets say statistics show one neighborhood has a higher crime rate than another. Is it immoral to have more of a police presence in the higher crime rate neighborhood? If the neighborhood is predominantly one particular race, does that change the morality?
