Hi, I have to write a paper examing how a New Testament author develops an Old Testament work within his New Testament work. In that context, I am considering comparing John’s Gospel with Isaiah. Do any of you scripture wizzes have any tips for me as far good places for information, or even personal insights?

Any thoughts are appreciated. 🙂

God bless,

If this is totally open as to your choice, you might make a very nice little paper out of the Gospel of John and Ezekiel.

As for Isaiah & John, there are a ton of passages in Isaiah that can be taken to refer to the Messiah. You could perhaps compare the Passion in John’s Gospel to the depictions of the suffering servant in Isaiah?

Thanks for the advice, Bobby Jim. 🙂

After doing some more research, I’m thinking that I might try to relate Isaiah’s themes of light and darkness to John’s model of Christ as the light of the world. Do you see some potential here?

I know very little about Ezekiel. In what ways does it relate to the Gospel of John? There is so much that i find fascinating in John’s work, that it is hard to know where to start.

God Bless,
ShyPony
