When looking at these promises some things have to be understood first: 1) It is directed at Catholics who already understand the proper relationship between Mary and her Son, and 2) None of these promises come to us through Mary alone but through the redemption Christ won for us on the cross, with full Church approval, and directed by the Holy Spirit:

The Fifteen Promises of Mary for Those Who Recite the Rosary:
  1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall receive signal graces.
This merely means special graces–a concept not foreign to Evangelical Protestants who often use the phrase “May you receive God’s special blessings and grace,” and other such expressions.
  1. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.
We believe Mary is actively participating in the lives of Christians and has been given by God the ability to send us help and protection, as do the holy angels (who are at her command). Also, Evangelical Protestant pray for God’s richest blessings and graces upon one another all the time, so there is nothing unusual there.
  1. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.
Because it is the recitation of Scripture, meditated upon the life of Christ, and directed by the Holy Spirit to bring grace into the lives of those who properly use this devotion.
  1. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of people from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
And it does do all those things for those who practice this devotion with ardor and proper reverence.
  1. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.
Because Mary will help them remain faithful to Christ, her Son, and because the faithful practice of it keeps one’s heart and mind focused on Christ and not on the world.
  1. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its Sacred Mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just, he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.
This does not mean we will have no misfortune but that we will not lose our faith. And that anyone who is daily meditating on the Scripture of the Rosary and meditating on the life of Christ will surely remain in the grace of God, so there would be no reason why God would have to chastise them but instead show such persons great mercy because of their faithfulness.
  1. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.
The Sacraments referred to here are reconciliation and anointing of the sick, commonly known as the last rites. These persons will know the forgiveness of God for their sins as Jesus himself established it for his Apostles and their successors (Jn. 20:19-23).

  1. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plentitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the Saints in Paradise.
More promises of grace given to those who are faithful. And the merits of the Saints in Paradise means taking part in the good things they did while on earth and of the help and intercession they can give us now as they are alive in heaven with the Lord, who gives them this ability through the power of the Holy Spirit.
  1. I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.
By her intercession and the helps she gave us while we were on earth as well as while we are in purgatory. Purgatory is biblical, but let’s not take the topic off track. You can read up on purgatory in the CA library.
  1. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.
Because of their faithfulness and conforming themselves, with the aid of the Rosary, to Christ.
  1. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.
Because she is the patroness of all who pray the Rosary.
  1. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
Makes sense since propogating the Rosary means bringing these special graces to others.
  1. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.
Sounds good to me! The whole of heaven promised to be helping us and praying for us.
  1. All who recite the Rosary are my children, and brothers and sisters of my only Son, Jesus Christ.
Echoes Jesus own words: “For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother, and sister, and mother” (Mt. 12:50).
  1. Devotion of my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.
Because it shows our willingness to be conformed to Christ and to abandon sin and the ways of the world.
 

14 Reminds me of Rev. 12:17.​

“And the Dragon was angered at the Woman, and went away to wage war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God, and hold fast the testimony of Jesus.”

I have been considering the rosary for some time now. I already pray the chaplet of the Holy Infant Jesus of Prague each day. It is only 15 prayers, but I think I may be getting AADD. (Adult attention deficiency disorder.) I have a hard enough time getting through the 15 prayer chaplet without my mind wandering all over the place.

I have a rosary, I just haven’t used it yet. I’m afraid if I don’t do a good job of it, or can keep my mind on it, I may be dishonoring the devotion.

I can see that. Good insight. 👍

While the Rosary is a wonderful devotion, no one has to do it–that’s just to stave off any feelings of scrupulousness about doing it.

But, if you want to do it, you don’t have to do the whole thing. One decade a day, perhaps, prayed with reverence and meditating on just one aspect of the Gospel is fine, too.

God looks at the intentions of the heart and regards that as more important than how perfectly we do this devotion or that, so do whatever helps you live out your baptismal vows and be at peace about it.
 
I had problems saying the Rosary, due to external influences from my Non-Catholic friends, so I started saying the Scriptural Rosary.

Here, you preface each “Hail Mary” with a Scripture quote that is related to the mystery. It has helped me so much, to overcome my reservations.

Now, Mary is a dear friend of mine. Each day, after my usual requests for her intercessory prayers, I then ask her to say an “Our Father” with me. It’s very comforting.
