Let me explain. A poster on here has on their profile that satan will feed a thousand truths to fit one lie. Is it possible that Jesus drove out demons to lead people away from Judaism, a far greater coup than individual possession if true? Is it possible that He(I AM still Catholic), under the control of satan, died because of being led by satans possession?

Please refute this.

Oops. Proof that Jesus is not Satan. Proof that he was not led by Satan.
Let’s see…so you want proof that Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, the second person of the Holy Trinity and the one who suffered and died for us all on the cross…you want proof that He wasn’t Satan?

Are you Catholic?
Are you even a Christian?
Have you ever read the Bible, the Church Fathers or even a history of the Christian faith?

Because if you did, then you need to start again at square 1.

To ask if Jesus was Satan is to be demonstrably the most uneducated person in regards to the faith, the Church and Christ Himself. Good luck is all I can say because you are going to need it if you have to seriously ask such a question.

Easy; Satan cannot cast out Satan. He just can’t. Also, why in the world would he tempt someone already under his control??? Even to convince the disciples, the devil wouldn’t “stoop” to that level. He is a proud creature, and he would not show himself to be powerless against anyone, even for a “greater purpose”. Last of all, the evil one cannot create joy. He can instigate happiness or pleasure from evil deeds, but he can’t handle good stuff, no matter how much he wants to twist it. Jesus was simply too good to be a demon’s puppet. Plus, Jesus proves Himself to be humble, time and time again - He gives His own body, for pity’s sake! The devil doesn’t understand the reality of Love, the Love that Jesus is. I suggest you read Screwtape Letters and the entire Bible. Definitely pray about this one, as doubt is a serious chink in the spiritual armor. :knight2: The devil has no truth, only excuses. May the Holy Spirit enflame your soul with a zeal for **His **truth. 🙂

Why would anyone of faith require such refutation? If Satan was leading Jesus he made the worst mistake of his career. For Jesus has been the leaven in our world since His resurrection. Through his church he has build the great beauty and intellect of Western Culture. He alone stands in our place before the Father. The great hospitals, charities, and education has been generated by His church. Jesus has led man to aspire to better themselves before their Creator.
If Satan was leading Jesus he has made a monumental mistake as he has made man turn from him for 2000 years to our true Lord. Unfortunately, I doubt he is that stupid.
On a personal note, don’t try to overthink any doubts you may have. Pray and have the faith of a child that their Father will not let them stumble.

Exactly what Hawkmaid said.

I’m too shaken from your second post to even think straight!

agreed.

This was an understandable question during the public ministry of Christ. He addressed it satisfactorily with words (“a house divided cannot stand,” etc.), not to mention everything about His life attesting to the same fact. It is therefore no longer an understandable question.

Perhaps you belong in a pew in front of our Lord dealing with interior life issues, rather than the philosophy sub-forum of CAF. You will find better help there than here.

Refute this??? It’s plain old common sense. God is good, Satan is evil. God cannot change His nature to be evil, and He is not under the power of ANYONE. He is the Almighty, the All Powerful. Remember, Jesus died on the Cross of His own free will. He didn’t have to, and the power to crucify Him (Pilate et al) was given to them by God Himself. If you have read your Bible, you should know this.

I don’t mean to be harsh, but I have never heard a Christian of any denomination ask a question like this. Where did this idea come from? Perhaps you think too much. Or who are you hanging out with and what are you reading???

I think what the OP is referring to is the belief that this is the grand deception God sent us, that the ‘god’ of the bible is actually the evil one and Satan is the good one, and we are all worshiping the wrong entity…Ive heard this argument many times, but never heard the belief that God is actually Satan (is that what the OP is asking?)…there is just too much in the bible to prove thats wrong.

The main one being, Satan would NEVER have died on the cross for mankind.

A radical Jewish apologetics tactic. Emphasis on Radical.

It seems to me that if you identify as a struggling Catholic, the best thing to help you in your struggle would be, well, Catholic sites, Catholic teachings (the catechism), Catholic RCIA programs, Catholic priests, Catholic spiritual directors, Catholic reading. . . Because from what I’ve seen of your posts, it seems that you aren’t really sure of what you believe, that you haven’t fully studied or understood your faith, and so anything that somebody says loudly enough that contradicts what you think is Catholic teaching just totally shocks and disturbs your faith.

So instead of searching out and engaging with ‘radicals’ and nonCatholics, even nonChristians, don’t you think it would be a smart idea to get to know what Catholicism really is? To know WHY the Church teaches that X is true and not Y, so that when somebody comes and shrieks that Y is true and the Church is wrong, you won’t get confused and upset and emotionally or intellectually battered?

Might I suggest starting with the catechism (free to read on the Vatican website), and the tracts here on Catholic answers (just start with the first alphabetically and keep on reading till you’ve read them all), This Rock, etc. . .as well as talking with your priest, maybe signing up for RCIA (you don’t have to be seeking to become Catholic to go through RCIA). . .just so you have a solid grasp of the TEACHINGS as well as a foundation in Church history. It would be so much better for you than coming on to these fora and asking people to help ‘steady you’ a dozen times a day on a dozen different ‘faith shakers’. Because while most people who come here are fairly smart and want to be helpful, there are always a few who will, intentionally or not, make it harder for you, because how do you KNOW that the poster who identifies as a cradle Catholic really is? or that what somebody tells you is ‘real Catholic teaching, despite what CA, or the bishop, or the catechism says’ and asks you to trust that THEY know better?

Another plain answer:

FLESH.

Angels can’t become human (though can look like it). If Jesus is really a human, He can’t be an angel. He goes to great lengths to show His humanity, especially DYING.

And how do we know that those radical Jewish apologists seen’t being led by Satan? Can they prove they aren’t?

A divided house cannot stand.
