Hello everyone.
Is there anyone who is successful in plant propagation? I have a question:
I started various plants from softwood cuttings at the start of the summer. Once they rooted, I put them in 3.5 inch pots. They have done well. In fact, the Crepe Myrtle and Rose bush, even flowered.
Before it gets too late in the year, I want to find out the best way I can prep them for the winter. I figure if I leave them as is, the roots will freeze and the plants will die. Could I just bury the small pots in the ground? Or say, in a large bin filled with compost (to generate some heat)? Some of them are evergreen, so they will need sun.
The cuttings I’ve started are:
Crepe Myrtles
Roses
Burning Bush
Red Twig Dogwoods.
Schipp Laurels.
Any info would be appreciated. I’m from Jersey, zone 7 so it can get cold in the winter. We see single digits at times.
