Thanks and nice meeting you all.
Dear Brother in Christ,
In the new testament when some events(incident) took place, at the end of that event(some events) a statement is made that this is in fulfillment of the prophesy as stated in the old testament by so and so - for example by Isaiah.
Is it true that such statements were INSERTED in the new testament “”" ASSUMING “”" that what is mentioned in the old testament MAY BE, COULD BE related to (AND THE AUTHOR IS NOT 100% SURE) whether this particular event IS ACTUALLY IN FULFILLMENT??? In other words, some of the prophecies which we have accepted as fulfilled - are IN FACT ASSUMED & NOT 100% SURE AS FULFILLED PROPHECIES ? The authors of the new testament are not certain that these prophesies are in fact fulfilled, authors just assumed as fulfilled prophesies and inserted them in the new testament? IS THIS THE OFFICIAL UNDERSTANDING OF THE CATHOLIC CHRUCH AND ITS TEACHINGS? BECAUSE THIS IS THE EXPLANATION GIVEN TO US BY ONE OF OUR CATHOLIC PRIESTS.
Furthermore, when I asked, which are the fulfilled prophesies that are directly related to Jesus. The answer we got is that ““this requires more study to find out.””

I disagree with what the priest said. If the NT author wrote that it was a fulfillment of prophesy, then it was a fulfillment of prophesy. If the NT author wrote that, it was not on his authority but the authority of the Holy Spirit, because the Bible is inspired by God.

But I will say this, that is, some things were fulfillment of prophesies but they also carry a future meaning as well, such as the abomination of desolation which happened in 70AD and will also happen during the time of the Antichrist, or the prophesy of Joel 2:31 which has fulfillment at the Cross and the final persecution.

But I think it is terribly wrong to claim that the Bible has insertions of false assumptions. But I strongly stand on the grounds that Scripture can take on dual meanings, since St. Gregory once said, “Scripture, by manner of its speech transcends every science, because in one and the same sentence, while it describes a fact, it reveals a mystery.(Moral 20.1)”
 
I am still waiting for an official reply regarding my posting on Prophesies from a Catholic Church stand point.
  1. Are the prophesies mentioned in the New Testament are to be considered as fulfilled by Jesus ?
  2. Are the prophesies seemed to be fulfilled by the authors of the N.T. and therefore mentioned therein and we are to consider such prophesies as fulfilled.
  3. Please list the prophesies that are fulfilled by Jesus.
