CARose:
I believe this because this is the church founded by Christ himself and as I don’t know the exact how of his return, I do know that he established a church on earth for the express purpose of retaining the fullness of his Gospel and the necessary preparation of mankind for his return. Therefore I trust that in his infinite wisdom, he has ensured that we will know him on his return. We already are blessed with his presence in the Tabernacles of the world and his presence at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, but if you’re really Catholic, Kyle, you already know and appreciate that truth.
Kyle replies: Yes, I understand that this Church was founded by Jesus, the Lord; but look, He explicitly said that He would come as a thief in the night, and many would cry “Lord, Lord,” without meeting the Bridegroom. I concur that the purpose of the Church is to maintain, uphold, and era-fy (meaning to make the text understandable to the unfolding era), and it would seem obvious that there is a “necessary preparation,” but what is it? Has the Church done this? What is this preparation, of mankind, for His return? You trust that God will think it through for you? I say it so harshly because Jesus also said: Matthew 25:1-13 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, master, master, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
I do appreciate the Presence of Jesus in the Tabernacles as well as at Mass – but He IS coming “like a thief in the night!”

Thanks, and yes, I do love him very much for he has been the most incredible influence in my life. He is truly good.

Kyle: Would you share what good influences you’ve had that have given you more comfort in contrition? I find a great deal of solace in His Name…it seems to have the Power to break my inner chains, just with a few sincere pleas, over time.
