Your polemic is analogous to me saying that Jesus was never on trial because there is no court documentation.
Nope. I can understand that statement, but there is a difference.

The Catholic Church still has the documents from that era.

Unless you are claiming that we burned them

This is a false claim the selling of indugences was sanctioned by the pope.
Almsgiving (the giving of money to the poor) was approved by the Pope, and Indulgences were given for almsgiving, along with the many other things one can do to gain an Indulgence.

At some point after Luther’s complaint, almsgiving came off of the approved list of Indulgences, for the reason that too many people thought they could “buy” the grace of God by giving money to the poor.

It would not be physically possible to actually “buy” or “sell” an Indulgence - an Indulgence is the remission by God of temporal punishment for sins already forgiven.

The problem is that protestant medicine was much, much worse than Catholic disease.
Just look at protestants: some of the accept abortion (murderers), the increasing number of them don’t mind homosexualism (sin according to Old and New Testament, gays will not enter the kingdom of God), Lutheran pastors even participated in the gay parade in Stockholm. To be saved it’s necessary to eat the Body of Jesus and drink His Blood and to confess your sins (sacrament of reconcilliation) - protestants have none of those beacuse they have no priesthood. Protestants very often spread lies about the Catholic Church and liars will not enter the kingdom of God, as the Scripture says. There were protestant denominations that commited suicide - like those led by Jim Jones or David Koresh. Protestants believe in free interpretation of the Scripture and it really means - do whatever you want!
Welcome to protestantism!
Catholic Church defends the right teaching and that’s why she is being attacked so much.

Obedience is the main feature of those who want to call themselves Christians. Protestants are partly obedient (lukewarm) and it’s definitely not enough. Pope is the vicar of Christ and our duty is to obey him because Jesus wants us to do so. We cannot worship God however we wish, this is an open way to heresies, errors and nonsenses.
It is necessary to participate in the Holy Mass, not in any service or prayer meeting.

God bless:)

God bless? More like “go swim in a pit of fire everyone who doesn’t have “catholic” in their signature.”

Frankly, any cult whose leader claims to be God or to have achieved “Christhood,” or that they are the second coming, is anti-christian in my view. The Rev. Moons of the world, that type. They are the great adversaries of good christians everywhere. They are not christians, or protestants, period.

Suffice it to say, I stopped taking you seriously when you compared my religion, which subscribes in whole to the same creeds you do, to David Koresh’s anti-christian cult.

I will pray for you, that you leave behind some of the obvious bitterness you harbor for your felllow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Quick catechism review for you:

818
“However, one cannot charge with the sin of separation those who at present are born into these communities [that resulted from such separation] and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers…All who have been justified by faith in Baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church.”

838
“The Church knows that she is joined in many ways to the baptized who are honored by the name of Christian, but do not profess the Catholic faith in its entirety or have not preserved unity or communion under the successor of Peter.” Those “who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in a certain, although imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church.”

Please be careful that your zeal for the Catholic Faith does not alienate our brothers in Christ, wherever they choose to worship.

Pixie Dust, thank you for that insightful post.
You’re very welcome. It wouldn’t fit in my “Religion” blank, I don’t think, but I spent a couple years as a Lutheran (ELCA, but a rather conservative one) on my way to the Catholic Church. Enjoy the ride! 😃
