Pre-Reformation? Not sure. At least from a Lutheran perspective, reform was the main goal, at least initially, believing that some of the practices in the Church, at least in Germany, were abuses. SSPX, OTOH, has been very critical of the Church since Vatican II, wanting a return to the Tridentine Mass, among other traditional things. There have been times when they have been even defiant of the Pope, such as the ordination of some priests without JPII’s permission.Jon, in your opinion, what is the philosophical differences between the current SSPX movement and the pre-reformation movement?
