Yeah. I wonder how many people have joined CAF, then left and joined a Protestant forum, only to end up saying to themselves “Wait a second, this is just as bad as CAF, it’s just Catholic-bashing in place of Protestant bashing.”>>>PeterJ
I commented on this posters comment by this comment "The view with the greatest understanding towards all others, is but a servant to them.
That is consistent with this verse: Mar 10:44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

And justifying it by the fact that those with limiting understanding tend to bash, while those with greater understandings become servants, sacrificial lambs, baring the burden of tolerance towards the intolerant in order to teach by example the things of God.

In essence, we become as like priests, servants of the most High God, humbly instructing, ministering to the saints, with long suffering of understanding, patience and tolerance.

All under the reasons why, Protestants are here on this forum.

Blessing’s, AJ

I’m here 'cause while I’m seriously considering joining the Catholic Church, I needed to wrestle with a lot of issues (theological & otherwise) i have with it, first.

anyway, i wanted to see what regular catholics believed of the subjects before talking to a priest about 'em too. & i figured i’d get some answers in the process.
Excellent! The best place to look for answers is the catechism of the catholic church and teachings that are from the magisterium. I keep referring to these because when i came to the faith i listened too much to what people said instead of what the church actually teaches. I almost gave up the faith as i thought as everyone i spoke though they were right and had their personal opinions, but then i had an idea to go straight to the source (pretty obvious i know but i’m not the sharpest tool in the shed) and i haven’t looked back since.

You have probably heard me say this before (your probably sick of me saying this actually) but visit the blessed sacrament. It is trul a gift and when you discover this you will want to tell this to as many people as possible because you want them to share in the same graces and blessings that come from the eucharist!

I think it is wonderful that some of you are considering making your journey back to the Creator with the aid of the Catholic Church and all that it can offer in the spiritual warfare for your and all people’s souls.

The Catholic Church is many things. It is a living and breathing entity with structure and authority. It claims as it’s inauguration day, Pentecost, and that it’s authority comes directly from Christ, given to Peter and the remaining ten Apostles at the Last Supper. It claims that it’s priests have the power and authority to forgive or bind sins. It is a community of believers fighting the good fight here on earth and a community of believers triumphant in heaven, both of which are praying for the repose of the souls of our brothers and sisters in Purgatory. It is a Sacramental Church, taking ordinary objects and transforming them into supernatural, eternal life giving experiences. It places the highest possible regard on the human family and human life. It draws all of it’s strength from the real presence of our Lord in the Eucharist and is nourished by this Heavenly Food. The Church calls itself One, Holy, Universal ( Catholic ) and Apostolic. It holds the Mother of our Lord in the highest esteem without worshiping her, and it seeks her Maternal aid and her position of favor in having her intercede on all of our behalf, so that we might find favor with her Son. The Catholic Church is the Mystical Body of Christ and as such, goes into the world to continue His work, by providing education, by providing health care, by it’s missionary works the world over, feeding and clothing the poor, visiting the sick and the imprisoned. The Catholic Church is also a Church of great prayer. Now and for centuries, there are consecrated religious men and women whose daily lives are spent in prayer. They are cloistered ( closed off ) from society and make their purpose in life the salvation of souls by there lives of sacrifice, worship and unceasing prayer. The Catholic Church is a wonderful and Holy gift from God and is to be treated as such. To be a member of such a community is truly a blessing and calls each and every one of it’s members to holiness and a profound sense of gratitude for all that it’s Founder has, is and will provide. The Catholic Church is and should be the earthly extension of the Love of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit and will remain such until our Lord comes in Glory to raise the living and the dead. It is the responsibility of each and every member to uphold the ideals, Truths and mission of this Church and it’s success will be determined by the collective fidelity to our God through it’s faith, hope and love.

If any of you are to join, may your presence enrich us and may you bring great glory and honor to the Holy and Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

May the Peace of Christ be with us all, always.

JT
Amen!

Hmm…It has been a lot of things throughout my life. The more I look back at my childhood even, there are things there that were “calling” me. Mostly what it has been is the peace I feel inside of a Catholic church. It’s hard to explain really. :o
Amen! You won’t feel anything else whenever you are in the presence of Jesus!

Nice. 👍

I very much hope that we will someday see a new paradigm of internet discussion forums – so it’ll no longer be a matter of “Do I want to participate on a Catholic forum, with lots or Protestant-bashing, or do I want to participate on a Protestant forum, with lots of Catholic-bashing?”

I’m not sure what you’re seeing here, Peter. But I think you’re painting with a rather large brush. Most discussions on these threads are quite ecumenical and generous in character. Perhaps not the overwhelming majority, but most of it is. What is your definition of “bashing”? Because mine revolves around the concept of unnecessary, unprovoked insults and ridicule of another’s professed walk in faith. I certainly do see that here from time to time, but it’s far from the norm. There will always be disagreements, and I don’t consider Catholics who boldly claim the Church as safeguard of the Truth, and ecclesial communities as possessors of partial truths, to be “bashing”. I would assume you don’t either. If that’s “bashing”, then I’m afraid there’ll not be this “new paradigm of forums” until we are all truly one.

Furthermore, CAF does not deserve a “protestant-bashing” label. There’s an equal amount of it on both sides here. In fact, in my two years here, one of which as an active participant, I have noticed much more Catholic bashing than protestant bashing. Just my observation, but I believe it to be quite accurate.

Thanks, SteveGC. So, in short, Protestants are treated really great on Catholic forums, whereas Catholics are treated like dung on Protestant forums? Thanks for letting me know. 👍

I’d be interested in checking out a Protestant forum or two. Gave never run into one.

Same here, although i’m all for being charitable and respectfull towards people of different faiths. You will always have someone who get offended or upset in these discussions. It’s unfortunate but true.

Nope.

In short, Protestants are treated the same as Catholics are treated on this forum. I have no idea how Catholics are treated on Protestant forums. If they’re treated better than they are here, that’s great. Of CAF’s main characteristics, Protestant-bashing is not one of them.

My opinion (and I’m quite aware that a lot of Catholics and Protestants disagree with me) is that the way Catholics are typically treated on Protestant forums is neither much better nor much worse than the way Protestants are typically treated on Catholic forums.
