At Mass today Father’s homily was about how we have apostolic succession, and not being like those other churches or congregations you see with signs “established 1857” etc. It got me thinking that maybe Catholic Churches should have “Founded 33 ad by Jesus Christ” on signs. What do you think?
 
Those signs indicate only when that Parish was established, unless it is the Cornerstone on the Church Building. Mine was established 2001; We have 13,000 Parishioners in 10 years now, and busy 24/7 Parish of 65 Organizations, 7 Weekend Masses. We’re a talented “Instant Mega-Church”, because of our inspiring Founding Pastor, in Northern Virginia. Our 1200 seat Traditional Church with numerous Meeting Rooms was Consecrated February 8 2008, which is on our Cornerstone. Our Non-Catholic brothers seem to use “Established” date, Catholic Churches seem to use Church Dedication or building date.
 
Well we don’t need to boast. Everybody already knows Christ himself established our Church. Let us be grateful and humble in belonging to such a wonderful divine family:)

I agree about being humble and grateful, and don’t want it to be a reason to be puffed out and proud. I meant it as a reason for evangilising the Church, planting seeds etc. God Bless. ps I should have titled the thread better.
