Being on an internet forum , any. I have come across time and again people who try to do this ah ha gotcha with something along the lines of saying " Prove it " . So what is the reasoning behind that when on an open forum we can post our thoughts, ideas, and views on anything, and we expect to have disagreements and I can understand if someone says, I don’t understand what you mean or I don’t understand why you have that point of view, and then you give your answer and one would think, okay that is it right, but no… It becomes a game doesn’t it. Of well I still disagree with you even though you told me why you said what you said and explained why you said it as detailed as possible, now I want you to give me further proof. A more rational response would be , oh okay i see why you came to your conclusion or thought process, i disagree still and have a nice day. Why do some people feel they have this teacher badge on or I have to prove a point, or I have the need to correct people who don’t agree and think and or have the view points that I do… what does that really achieve other than arguing. Or is it the possible hope of dogging someone down long enough that the person one disagrees with gives up and just says , oh i am so so sorry i ever thought that, and just praises the person for correcting them and enlightening them?
Now I could understand the prove it stand point, If say on a science forum, I claimed to be a professional scientist and went around not posting opinions but Teaching, actually teaching that the Earth is flat. An someone came along and goes can you point to any where in the field of science where anyone agrees.
I find that people looking for a troll fight tend to err on the side of this notion of the ah ha i’ll get you if in some manner i say, prove it, or something of the sort. So when did having an opinion or another point of view in the forum world or any part of the world, require a person to have any kind of proof to anything?
I think the only time one needs to prove anything is when they are stating something as an absolute fact and or trying to come across as a teacher in some kind of professional field. An I think what happens if it isn’t someone trying to pick an online fight it is a person who takes everything online as being someone speaking as a literal authorative figure online and can’t understand different view points or cant understand what an opinion is.
This is just one reason why I will never respond to most people on an online forum. But if I am asking for (name removed by moderator)ut sometimes I will respond, other times I just responses and then move because I am either enjoying my coffee or beverage and I don’t like spoiling my reading mood with having to respond to drivel. An I suppose the most people can hope for from me is that i read their response, which is very rare.
