Hi everyone I am glad I found this site. I had a question about Christian prayers/Liturgy of the hours. For over 20 years I have been praying my Christian prayers. About a month ago I bought the 4 volume set and have been praying everyday. My question is on Week 1 Antiphon 1 it says when Psalm 24 is the invitatory psalm, psalm 95 is used as the first psalm of Morning Prayer. Same thing is said for on of the Evening prayer psalm too. Why do we replace psalm 24 with psalm 95? If I have to say Psalm 95 why is Psalm 24 there to begin with. Then do I repeat the Antiphon every segment? Psalm 24 has Psalm prayer. Then do I say that prayer after I finish the Psalm? I once asked a priest and he said that I can say Psalm 24 or Psalm 95. I am still confused and I have looked online to find an answer but I did not find an answer. Thank you and God bless.

Why do we replace psalm 24 with psalm 95?
Psalm 95 is the “default” Invitatory psalm. You can use Psalm 24, 67, or 100 as alternatives if you choose. When you choose an alternate and that same psalm you chose occurs in the regular psalmody of the day, the reasonable thing to do is replace it with psalm 95 (such that these two psalms are basically trading places).

Whichever one is used in the invitatory place, you would treat with the antiphon however you normally would (so if you repeat the antiphon throughout, do so). Whichever one is in the regular psalmody place, treat that way (antiphon before and after, most likely). The psalm-prayer is optional anyway, so use it or don’t - your choice.
