Don’t underestimate the danger of Ouija Boards. I know from first hand what they can do to a family. I saw it myself 50 years ago. My Mom always said if you play with fire, your gonna get burned. Why do you think the Catholic Church forbids them. They are not just a silly game, believe me! I’d stay far away from any of that “stuff”. God Bless, Memaw
My personal position is when I think of these boards is this, when you do this you are inviting the devil in. Once you open the door to him he takes over. I do believe that these are for sure his works.

I believe if God wants us to know something he will send his Spirit to tell us, we do not need to go looking for it. I believe if it is from God it will come in our sleep, etc. He may have our loved ones come to us in a dream, etc. But he will do it, we are not to go look for it.

Great discussion! It is important that we treat each other’s responses with respect. There are many who are here, like me, who are not Catholics but wanting to learn about its teachings along with the other non-Catholics who post in this forum.

1 John 4:1 Testing the Spirits
1Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2By this you know the Spirit of God: ***every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;…

I’ve been watching some YouTube videos of people who had near death experiences (NDE’s). Several of them, after the experience, have become empathic meaning that they either become mediums or psychics.

I’ve discussed the NDE’s with others and I get varied opinions as to if it was a real experience or not. The majority of these people felt their soul come out from the body and could tell in detail what was going on in the varied experiences.

I find it all interesting but I want to weigh these stories against what Scripture tells us.

God bless all,

Rita
Personally, I wouldn’t pay to much attention to any of that. God has given us sooo much beauty and mystery to chew on and learn and explore, I don’t think we should get into that kind of stuff. Never even heard of it until a few decades ago and I’ve been around a few decades!!! Who knows what the human mind imagines when it is under such circumstances. even dreams can be rather weird, I had a weird dream last night but this morning I laugh about it. Sacred Scripture tells us that “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it even entered the mind of man what God has in store for him”. I will take the Bible’s word for that and leave the rest up to HIM!!! God Bless, Memaw

Hello Eddie too,
Code:
When the Catholic church hierarchy made their list of which sins are mortal and which are menial, how do you know they weren't being influenced by a desire to list sins as mortal that would benefit the church?
The RCC is not influenced by a desire to list sins as mortal that would benefit the Church. the RCC is led by the Holy Spirit. And did you mean venial?

Rita,

The Catholic baptized have the power or capability of prophecy through the Holy Spirit. Now, these “mediums” should be using their inner strength to contact Saints (as far as deceased persons on Earth) go. Other than that, I am sure they could be opening themselves up to something else if they insist upon other practices. I would leave that sort of entertainment alone and embrace the miracles performed by Jesus Christ and Saints. Have you seen John Edward raise the dead? Well, Jesus did.
