What is the churches stance on psychics? Is it wrong to watch shows like Crossing over, according to the Catholic church?
Thanks for the help!
Thanks for the help!
Psychics fall into the category of “phenomena of clairvoyance and recourse to mediums”.2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to “unveil” the future.48 Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.
I know a lot of Catholics who have given up reading their horoscopes. I don’t know if the Catechism section is necessarily a complete injunction against them. I mean, if you don’t believe them (and obviously, considering how they are generated, you shouldn’t), there may be little harm. But then again I’m not an expert, either.Horoscopes play on psychological technique…it’s really quite interesting, i took a class on it last year in college!! I don’t find many things to be evil, but psychics give me a bad vibe…they’re creepy toooooooo creepy!!
So if i am becoming catholic, no more sunday paper horoscopes?
