PTSD , is the most common misunderstood mental illness ,esp. among religious sects , some understand ,some don’t , some people believe that PTSD is just for the military ,when in fact anyone who suffered abuse , can develop PTSD .
the sad part is no one wants to educate themselves in PTSD .
I met some Christians who believe its against gods law ,and I met some saying its fake , I also met some who are on the fence .
there is nothing against gods law ,about PTSD .
but the patients of PTSD , are being bullied , why ?

PTSD exists. What’s the reason for this discussion?

The science behind PSTD is relatively new which means that some people discount the reasons behind the conclusions it comes to.

PSTD in the military is most well known because they tend to be an easy to study homogeneous group that allows for other factors to be eliminated…vital for scientific studies. Events are well recorded, too.

PSTD among other groups less is understood because of the wild variables.

And then their is the fact that PSTD is an illness and cannot be self diagnosed, which way too many people do.

Self diagnosis is the bane of psychiatry
Oh, it very much is, and I think that PSTD is among one of the most frequent and ill used one outside of the learning disorder family.

I think what makes vets with PSTD more “respected” is that they have nearly always been professionally diagnosed and are often undergoing treatment.

And autism spectrum.
Everybody who does something a little out of the ordinary is autistic now, and the revisionist historians and scholars who retroactively diagnose historical figure and literary characters as autistic.
Yikes

I threw that in under learning disabilities.

I get irritated because of everyone constantly says they have ADD or ADHD.

No. There are actual diagnostic criteria.

No diagnosis. Just STAHP.

Two of my sons and one of my daughters were diagnosed by pyschologists with ADHA and the kids all say I have it so I don t know.

I agree w all of you , but sadly as most depict too many are self DX , its fine to explore all aspects ,but not to DX yourself . get a professional to do it .

Oddly enough my brother and I both preferred to be called the “ADD kids” rather than “the two that have ADD” My brother called it “baggage” vs identity. We are ADD…thats part of everything we are. It’s not something tacked on.

So to each their own.

I think PTSD is widely misguided by religion ,no one can comprehend what goes on in another mind esp after abuse
Impiracly we can figure out exactly what “goes on” in the mind both cerebrally and hormonally in the minds of abuse victims. The foster care system has allowed for many studies of the disorder RAD (reactive attachment disorder) and how early abuse can literally reshape the mind.
