"Public" vs "Private" revelation?

Thanks for the generous responses! It seems that Catholic usage of “revelation” may not include some or all daily guidance a church official may receive from the Holy Spirit, but that does not mean that Catholics reject additional divine guidance above and beyond revelation.
Spot on. I think it is important to define terms. A lot of my LDS friends and family, and myself when I still was LDS, would have labeled what they interpret as a spiritual feeling of guidance as revelation, whereas a Catholic would simply call this guidance, although there is certainly something being revealed in a sense. What Catholics reject is the idea that there is any new truth yet to be revealed that is unknown to the Church.

And that is the crux of the matter. Jesus is either sufficient or he is not. We believe that he is. For what are we waiting to be revealed?
