So, the earliest mention of Purgatory is 2nd Maccabees, which is the Old Testament, but I thought Purgatory cleansed you of your sins to go to Heaven, but jesus opened heaven, so my question is , what would be ghe point of Purgatory if Heaven is Inaccessible atm, would the cleansed go to Abrahams Bosom or whay?

It isn’t “Purgatory” that is mentioned, rather the concept of what Purgatory is.
There is the explicit mention in 2Macc 12:46 of making atonement for the dead, that they might be delivered from sin. It is explicit proof that the Jews believed in what Purgatory is ( some place or process where the just are purged from some effect of sin prior to entering into glory ).

What ahs said.

The Church doesn’t actually teach that Purgatory is a PLACE. We tend to think of it that way (and perhaps it is) but it might be better thought of as a state or process. We don’t really know how the souls of those who have died experience what to those of us with bodies is seen as the passage of time. But we do know that some need to be purified.

Because nothing unclean shall enter Heaven. Imperfections need to be purified.

The angels rejected God-- and that’s where you get fallen angels from.

I reject God every time I sin. By God’s justice, I ought to be just as condemned as a fallen angel.

However, I was redeemed by Christ’s sacrifice. What should have been closed to me is now open.

However, at the same time, I still have attachment to things that I prioritize over God. The door is open— but I can’t pass through it without cleansing myself of all attachments to my sins. That process of purgation is our concept of Purgatory.

Except that you don’t have infused knowledge, and therefore, you’re capable of change (and repentance). Angels do, and therefore, they’re not.

Preparation in order to be ready for heaven when it’s accessible? 😉
