I am looking for a nice Pyx and am unsure of the rules as to the metals that are allowed in its design. In addition, I saw one which has a white plastic shell inside. Is that permissible? Any reputable online stores outside of the Catholic Company that sells them? Thank You!

Autom. Catholic Gifts and Rosary Parts. You parish secretary has a zillion catalogs. The liner is fine.

If you have a local store that specializes in Catholic goods, they will have them. If you can’t afford one, ask your parish priest or pastoral admin as they may have a few spare along with a burse.

The requirements for sacred vessels are in the General Instructions of the Roman Missal.

See paragraphs 328 to 330.

It can’t rust or deteriorate, can’t absorb moisture and has to be made of material that can easily be cleaned. As the others have said, just buy from a reputable Catholic source and you will won’t have any issues.
