Who are the anointed, how are they anointed, with what and when?
Is it Christ’s blood, our baptism, our confirmation? All three?
I’m just a bit confused after hearing a sermon at a Presbyterian Church (AFTER I had been to Mass!
) that said we are anointed by Christ’s blood. Wouldn’t that mean that the whole world is anointed since Christ shed his blood for the whole world?
What makes the anointed so special then if it is everyone?
I understood that Baptism and Confirmation were the anointing, the seal set on our souls and anointing of our flesh so that we can be holy - the reception of the Holy Spirit is what anoints us.
How do non-catholics understand being ‘anointed’?
I think I’m about to get into a debate with my in-laws about this and just want to understand…
