A: A Mass with the 1962 Missal, offered at 7 a.m. in a distant corner of the Diocese of Orange.

The first Tridentine Mass in a six-month “experiment” was offered this mornng in the chapel of John Paul II Polish Center in Yorba Linda, California. The other sanctioned by the diocese is in the tiny Serra Chapel of Mission San Juan Capistrano, and it is always packed to overflowing.

This morning’s Mass was celebrated by a Norbertine priest from St. Michael’s Abbey, the source for Latin Mass priests in San Diego. It was as reverent as would be expected for a TLM, and was introduced by a spokesman for the bishop. At the end of the Mass, Father George Blais welcomed those present and suggested that a more accommodating hour might be possible in the future. Una Voce of Orange County has been in the forefront of getting this indult Mass approved.

There was a lot o’ kneelin’ goin’ on:) .

Wow! That’s great!

The only TLM in the Archdiocese of Boston is at noon…

I’m an early morning person so 7 am would work for me.

Pontifical High Mass … I think I’d get up at any time for that. 😛

But who’s going to celebrate it? Does Bishop Brown even know how to say the Mass in Latin anymore?
Here in Detroit, two of our auxilliary bishops (+Boyeau and +Quinn) regularly celebrate the TLM at our indult parish.

A bishop from the diocese of Galveston-Houston is offering a Latin N.O. Mass today at a local parish. The men’s Schola I sing in is assisting with the music. All Latin (except readings, homily, intercessions), music is accapella all-Latin, ad orientem, incense, cassocks and surplices, male altar servers,…and it’s usually a packed house.

Go figure.

OK… now I’m jealous… The only place in our entire diocese that has TLM is at our Cathedral in Peoria…like 3 hours away!
