So much is said about ones “worthiness” to be a liturgical minister … What are the guidelines/qualifications required by the Church of all EMHCs and Lectors?

Do the same qualifications pertain to the ushers, greeters and choir members?

A good way to begin is to realize that we are all unworthy. The guidlines for these positions are the same as everything else in the diocese- given by the bishop. So each diocese conducts their programs according to him. Most of these positions in our diocese are left up to the pastor. However, EMHC requires training and a list provided to the bishop for his approval. There is also the obvious requirement that none in these positions bring scandal to the church. I know of a case where one woman had a leadership role in a CCD program but was asked to step down as she had not been married in the church.

May God bless all who serve their brothers and sisters,
Deacon Tony
