Queen Isabella

I read the K of C article on Queen Isabella and it was very interesting. I think she is highly misunderstood by many comtemporaries. I’ve anti-catholic sentiment about her lately. How do I respond to this? I don’t know how to answer this.

I also think Queen Isabella has been unfairly maligned by those who refuse to put her actions in context to the times in which she lived. As a sovereign ruler in a brutal age facing an implacable enemy (the Moors, i.e. Moslems) who had occupied her country for hundreds of years, we are hardly in a position to judge her by todays standards. Six hundred years of hindsight is a very narrow view. It is my hope also that one day she will also be canonized.

She endowed a church here in Coventry, St. John the Baptist, Fleet Street (I know this is off topic). It’s in protestant hands now but it is still beautiful. Because of her association with the city, we incorporated the ‘Elephant and Castle’ into the city’s coat of arms (Elephant and Castle is a corruption of Isabella of Castille).

Well let’s put it this way some history revisionist wil insist that America had no terroritst threat after 9/11 and our wars in both afghanistain and iraq were on peaceful societies that were wihtou theorist regimes like al queda and the taliban and without a terrorist dictator and our wars even the afhanistian war were both war crimes and we are occupationist forcing our way of life on these priorly happy people.

Oh wait this already happened Michael Moore and the democrats have already made this case while we all saw the towers hit in our lifetime. Let’s see if history can be retold entirely backward in a matter of a few years than how possible is that in 500 years Isabella and the catholic church position on the Inquizition could have been maligned by those with their own agenda?

Note that she was Henry VIII’s mother-in-law.
