Queen’s physician suspected in heiress ‘murder’

Prosecutors suspect the physician of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands of involvement in murder. Newspaper ‘De Telegraaf’ reported on Tuesday that general practitioner George F.M. of The Hague was held in custody for two weeks and was questioned extensively about the suspected murder of widow Sophie Gorter-Hin, 95. Her father was an industrialist who left her a huge fortune.

She was euthanized on 19 September 2000. Three weeks ago, the public prosecutor (OM) ordered that her body be exhumed for forensic tests.

The authorities suspects a large number of morphine plasters were used to bring about the woman’s death and that she was killed in order to embezzle her wealth. The national forensics institute (NFI) took samples from the woman’s remains to see if the suspicions about a morphine overdose could be confirmed, ‘De Telegraaf’ said.

Abuses? What abuses? There are ‘safeguards’ to prevent that sort of unethical behaviour. :rotfl:

You must remember of course that even though it may have happened in the Netherlands it does not mean it will happen in other countries that legalise (turn a blind eye to) euthanasia or assisted suicide.
