The ordination of our new bishop, His Excellency Daniel E. Flores, was simply wonderful. Here’s a link for info:

There were bishops of different rites there, and I’m hoping someone can tell me what rite(s) they belong to.

2 of the bishops wore beautiful, jewel encrusted crowns, shaped like this, but white:

Another was clothed all in black, as you would imagine an Orthodox Patriarch to be, wearing a beautiful iconic medal of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. (Maronite?)

What an awesome experience!

Sue,

Maronite bishops wear mitres just like Latin Rite bishops. The corona (crown) that you pictures is generally worn by bishops of the Byzantine Rite (both Catholic and Orthodox). The photos make it hard to tell, but it appears that one of the bishops is Bishop Nicholas Samra, Titular Bishop of Gersa and retired auxiliary bishop of the Eparchy of Newton (Melkite). I cannot see who the other bishop is (the photo is too dark), but he is also Byzantine based upon his vestments.

This picture is very obviously that of our emeritus auxiliary, Sayedna Nicholas (Samra), as Deacon Ed said. The best that I can determine, the bishop to the his right is probably Vladkya John (Kudrick), Eparch of Parma of the Ruthenians.

In this photo,, the bishop in the background wearing the orrnamented mitre would be Mar Ibrahim (Ibrahim), Eparch of Saint Thomas in Detroit of the Chaldeans.

The bishop in this photo looks to be Kyr Nicholas (Pissare) of the Greek Orthodox Diocese of Detroit. His engolpion, what you described as an iconic medal, is a mark of his office as bishop. It looks as if the icon is either that of the Mother of God Eleousa (Mother of God of Loving Kindness) or that of the Vladimir Theotokos. The black garments are those typically worn by Eastern Catholic or Orthodox bishops when not serving the Liturgy and consist of the rason (cassock), under his riassa (cloak). The headpiece and veil are the kamilavka with epanokamelavkion (those are the Russian terms, the Greek equivalents escape me at the moment).
