Question about Euthansia

I need help with this…I will soon be taking my 14 year old Lab Retriver into the vet for euthansia. She is failing and can’t hardly walk and has no controll over her bowels anymore…I’m so very sad and already greif stricken at the thought of putting her down.😦 :crying:
Is is morally wrong to have a pet under go euthanisa?

I’m sorry about your pet.

It is not morally wrong to euthanize an animal.
 
So sorry about what you are going through. I’ve been there myself and anticipate being there again as my retriever turns 13.😦

Of course it is fine to euthanize an animal and it is sometimes the only humane way to care for an aging pet whose health issues render them helpless. God created animals for our use and their purpose is much different than that of human life.

I don’t think you’re wrong at all. I’d be grief stricken as well. I have a 17 yr. old Chihuahua and I’m surprised every day when I come home and she’s still alive (not in pain…just reeeeeaaaalllly old). I don’t know what I’ll do when she’s gone.
Don’t compare end of life with humans (“mercy” killing) and putting an animal to sleep. Humans have the intellect to understand our suffering…critters don’t. Your little buddy will be waiting at the pearly gates for you when you get there!
 
It is hard to euthanize a pet, but I think it is also an obligation when life becomes too burdensome for them. They are dependent on us for everything, and especially for this final decision. They have done no wrong, their suffering gains no merit; so we are obliged to ease it for them in whatever way we can.

A nice thought perhaps, but not true. Unfortunately, when animals die, they really die, soul and all. But, seeing the animals we grew attached to in this life will not be necessary in the next. The definition of God is He who gives us everything we need and desire. By definition, we won’t desire anything else. To say that we would is saying that God is not enough.
