Some years ago, I committed a certain mortal sin (let’s call it Sin X). I confessed it in confession and received absolution. Last month, I decided to make a General Confession, confessing all of my past sins up til now (this was a very healing experience for me!). If you are doing one of these, it is required to confess all your mortal sins from the past that you can remember, even if you have already confessed it before. I did this. However, I forgot about Sin X. I recently remembered it. I know that in the course of a regular confession, if you forget to confess a certain sin, you are to consider it forgiven but mention it the next time you go. But what if you forget one during a General Confession but it’s something you confessed previously? Do I need to confess Sin X the next time I go?
