Hello everyone,
I think I’m in the right forum for this question. If not, someone please point me to the right direction…

I don’t know why I didn’t notice before today, but today I noticed that there are others besides the Priest giving the Body and the Blood of Christ out at Mass. I guess I was so distracted by everything else these past few weeks(I’m still a newby and in RCIA) I didn’t notice. I thought only the Priest did this? Is this normal for him to have “helpers”? I see the reason behind it logistically. There are a lot of people there and with just one person it would be a very long line.

I guess I thought only the Priest could do that. I’m just curious. If anyone has some clarification for me I’d appreciate it.

Thanks

In the Catholic Mass, the ordinary Eucharistic Ministers are the Bishop, Priest and Deacon; laity may be delegated to assist in the distribution of Communion and are referred to accurately as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
