I carry my rosary with me everyday, and until recently I had a nice leather pouch my wife bought me to help protect it. Unfortunately the zipper broke so now I need to find something new to carry it in.

My question:
Is there anything that would be disrespectful to carry it in? I use smokeless tobacco and have cleaned an old dip can. I removed the labels so there’s nothing to identify it as a dip can. I washed it thoroughly. Would it be wrong to use that to store my rosary?

No, if the can is nice and clean, that’s fine.

You can probably get a leather goods store to put a new zipper on your pouch if you want to go back to that later.

While I supposed there is nothing technically wrong with using a dip can, to me (and this is my opinion) it hardly sounds “dignified” for a sacramental, esp if the rosary has been blessed.

You can find a number of Rosary containers for under $10

I view no problem at all.

I carry my own rosary in my pockets, especially because I’m used to pray the rosary while in the bus or subway, and take it from a special box and replace, after the pray, can be troublesome.

Obviously, the more respectful, the best.

It is only going to be temporary until I can get another case. I really like this one.

You could also just revert to a Rosary Ring or a single decade Rosary.

Personally, I use the ring rosary similar to the pic as I like praying it when I’m out walking.

I keep Rosary rings I’m convenient locations, I have one at my desk at work, one in my truck, and one next to my bed. But I feel lost not carrying mine. It’s a comforting feeling to me knowing I have my rosary with me

I need one of those. Where do you find one ? I love this place. Thanks for posting.

I know a gal that has a beautiful Rosary tattooed on her forearm. Not sure I would go down that road. But she finds it useful.

You can buy a small pouch at any arts & crafts store for about $1.99
Michaels has them. Even a snack size ziplock bag for jewelry will do.

The website that is from is called Rugged Rosary. I love their website because they have a lot of unique and handmade items available. Plus it is all U.S. veterans making the products.

Pope Francis is into recycling. I don’t think he would have a problem with you using a clean, used dip can to carry your rosary in.
