Question about novenas

For the past couple of monthes I have been saying novenas to various saints for a particular intention. I have already said 2 different novenas to the same saint, and I have already seen some small signs that it’s working. Yesterday I got a little discouraged and looked around and found a third novena to this particular saint. However, since finding the third Novena I have remembered all the subtle little things that have happened since then that have me convinced that it’s working. Should I still say the third novena anyway, or would that make it seem like I lack faith?

Say it. Novenas will never hurt, my friend. We all need to follow your example of dedication to saying them. Thank you.

I agree. Continuing to pray about something doesn’t show a lack of faith, but perseverance.

Not Catholic anymore, but my attitude to praying then and now is pray, pray, pray and pray some more until your sure you’ve gotten a yes or no.

These days if I get a no I’ll see if some other deity will grant my petition, so there is even more praying. As a Catholic it wont hurt you to try praying to another Saint at the same time and if you think it is being answered here a Mass or two on behalf of the Saint in question.

how do you define “working”. if you mean anything other than this prayer is conforming your mind, heart and will to God’s then you misunderstand the reason for this and any prayer, and are bordering very close to superstition in use of novenas and other devotions. Please ask your priest about this.
