We worship God. In eternity. That’s our aim, the beatific vision.

Following the lead of the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, the saints have a pretty full schedule , now, with all the intercessions for us.

The angels sing and worship God. Protect, and guard us.

However, that doesn’t necessarily imply the particular form of worship. We’ll have glorified bodies in heaven – is it inconceivable that the form of our worship might include bodily / physical actions, which, in their very commission “give glory to God”?

There will be no need for such intercession in the eschaton, however… right?

Is it true that all people really do in Heaven is pray?
Blessed Henry Suso (1295 - 1366) Dominican and German mystic

-Now, then, ascend thou on high with Me. I will carry thee thither in spirit, and will give thee, after a rude similitude, a distant glimpse into the future. Behold, above the ninth heaven, which is incalculably more than a hundred thousand times larger than the entire earth, there is another heaven which is called Coelum Empyreum, the fiery heaven, so called, not from its being of fire, but from its immeasurably transparent brightness, which is immovable and unchangeable in its nature; and this is the glorious court in which the heavenly hosts dwell, where the morning star with the rest praises Me, and all the children of God rejoice.

There stand, encompassed with inconceivable light, the everlasting thrones, from which the evil spirits were hurled, in which the elect are seated. See how the delightful city shines with beaten gold, how it glitters with costly jewels, inlaid with precious stones, transparent as crystal, reflecting red roses, white lilies, and all living flowers. Now, look on the beautiful heavenly fields themselves. Lo! here all delights of summer, here sunny meads of May, here the very valley of bliss, here the glad moments are seen flitting from joy to joy; here harps and viols, here singing, and leaping, and dancing, hand in hand for ever! here the gratification of every desire, here pleasure without pain in everlasting security!

Now, look how the countless multitude drink to their hearts’ desire at the living fountains of gushing water; look how they feast their eyes on the pure, clear mirror of the revealed Divinity, in which all things are made plain and evident to them. Steal a little nearer, and mark how the sweet queen of the celestial kingdom, whom thou lovest with so much ardour, soars aloft in dignity and joy over the whole celestial host, reclining tenderly on her beloved, encircled with rose-flowers and lilies of the valley. See how her ravishing beauty fills with delight and wonder all the heavenly choirs.

continue-

Oh, now behold what will rejoice thy heart and soul, and see how the mother of compassion has turned her compassionate eyes towards thee and all sinners, and how powerfully she appeals to her beloved Son, and intercedes with Him. Now, turn round with the eyes of thy pure understanding, and behold also how the high seraphim and the love-abounding souls of the seraphic choirs blaze up perpetually in Me; how the bright company of the cherubim have a bright infusion and effusion of My eternal inconceivable light, how the high thrones and hosts, the lordships, powers, and dominations, regularly fulfill My beautiful and eternal order in the universality of nature.

Mark, too, how the third host of angelic spirits executes My high messages and decrees in the particular parts of the world; and see, how lovingly, how joyfully, and variously the multitude is marshalled, and what a beautiful sight it is! Turn next thy glance and see how My chosen disciples and best beloved friends sit in repose and honour upon their awful judgment-seats, how the martyrs glitter in their rose-coloured garments, the confessors shine in their vernal beauty, how refulgent the virgins appear in their angelic purity, how all the heavenly host overflows with divine sweetness! Oh, what a company! Oh, what a joyous band!

Blessed, thrice blessed is he who was born to dwell where they dwell! Lo, to this very fatherland I shall carry home from misery and tribulation, arrayed in all the richness of her rich morning gift, My beloved bride in My arms. I shall adorn her interiorly with the beautiful garment of the eternal light of that glory which will exalt her above all her natural powers. She will be clothed exteriorly with the glorified body, which is seven times brighter than the sun’s light, swift, subtle, and to suffering, impassive; then I shall put on her the crown of delight, and on the crown a golden garland.

All I said was we worship God in eternity. No other statements or assumptions on that. We have no idea what a glorified body really might be. I will assume it’s going to very different to what we creatures will or do imagine. This is because our way is not God’s way.

The Saints are pretty busy ATM, today is the Feast day of Archangels Michael, Raphael and Gabriel. In Mass today, my Priest said they can intercede for protection from evil, healing, and communication.
The angels are pretty busy too!

I wonder how their job description will change in eternity?

We are supposed to make our life a prayer while on earth I would imagine it becomes automatic in heaven.

No.
At His right hand there are pleasures forevermore. Praising and worshipping Him will be chief among our joys in Heaven but it will not be the only joy.

Sounds like a real boring existence. Do you really think that after an eternity of doing this you would not question the motives of a being who thrives on praise and worship? What a selfish being this god must be who takes pleasure in such narcissism.
You’re thinking of God as just some kind of ultrapowerful human, like a version of Fidel Castro or Mao Tse-Tung.
God is the Creator of all. He Is Who Is. He is the ground and cause of our being. We won’t praise Him because He makes us do it. We will do it because it is right and good, and it will be a joy more intense than we can imagine in this life.
We’re not going to get bored. We will be in bliss. At His right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Also we won’t get bored because God is infinite. He is an endless ocean of goodness and beauty. We will spend eternity exploring Him and never come to the end because in Him there is no end.

You should be thinking Christ, His life and especially on that cross - abandoned, tortured and in pain, having everything stolen away from you, humiliated, taking the blame and punishment for something that someone else did to make that right and spare them the debt. You should be made aware that you have no clue what is possible and why it isn’t ours. But I will let you in on the obvious mystery; it is about the last word in you post. That is the central flaw, the placing of oneself where God should be at the centre of the garden that constitutes our relationship with existence. God is the Divine love, from which we all spring, the infinite ocean of compassion in which all creation dwells and that we cannot see in the darkness of our fascination with ourselves. Eternity means timelessness, but perpetuity is a manifestation of God’s creative power in every moment and every place that is because it rests on He who is Existence itself. The Light does not diminish because He is the Light, the Joy, the Beauty of which we get glimpses, in themselves feeling like eternities, as we pass through the moments that constitute our one life on earth. We get bored clinging on to the illusory and the transient and when the focus is in our own pleasure. God does not thrive on praise and worship; in reality, nothing does. We all thrive in the giving for the good of the other, because that is what God is.

Maxirad, no one honestly has a real answer on that, one can reasonably speculate that there is some kind of worshiping and praying for the living while in Heaven considering our life on earth is based upon prayer.

As for what people do 24/7 in Heaven , your guess is as logical and good as any theologians.

( not looking for a conversation with anyone on this subject, just stating what I think to the Original Poster, anyone offended can leave a response that I will never read. )

Surprising, why a person is member in a public forum, when he thinks:
“I’m not looking for a conversation with anyone on this subject, just stating what I think to the Original Poster, anyone offended can leave a response that I will never read.”

But still:
If we’d be heaven just to pray and Angels to sing, then we might just as well dwell in hell 🤣
Honestly now:
St. Paul wrote: in 2,Cor 2:9 … it is written, “Things that no eye has seen, or ear heard, or mind imagined, are the things God has prepared for those who love him.” God has revealed these to us by the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the things of a man except the man’s spirit within him? So too, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things that are freely given to us by God. And we speak about these things, not with words taught us by human wisdom, but with those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people. The unbeliever does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. And he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 2:15 The one who is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is understood by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to advise him?

This does make as clear as can be, that Angels and we are not just in heaven to sing and pray, but to what no eye aver saw and no ear ever heard nor ever came to the mind of human kind.
It’s not to us to determine what Angels and and those granted to be in heaven, will do then.

Yours
Bruno

I believe we continue to grow in holiness now and forever and unto the ages of ages upon entering into heaven. I know the Eastern Catholic view is that we are all striving to grow to the highest degree of holiness, even the Theotokos and Ever Virgin Mary will be spending eternity growing in holiness with all the saints.

How do we grow in holiness? Praying is definitely a primary means should be strive to pray for others. Will the good of others is what we can do, we can pray for the saints in heaven to grow in holiness and in turn they can intercede for us to do the same. Its holy reciprocity people! 🙂

Prayer is really just communication with God…so if you mean will we be just communicating with God in Heaven…yes we will! We can ask Him to do this favor for this person on earth…or heal this relative on earth of a certain injury…help this specific person with temptation, etc. Heaven is when we can finally get to see God face to face in all His glory! We get to see the beatific vision where joy never ends! And we get to talk to Him who created us and the entire universe. It’s amazing.
