Peter Kreeft has many books available. Is he Catholic or Protestant? Does his work adhere to true Catholic doctrine?
I am interested in reading some of his books, but I am unsure how close he sticks to Catholicism.
Anyone have any insights on Peter Kreeft and his works?

Thanks.

Before I returned to the Catholic Church I read Kreeft’s books “The Best Things in Life” and “Socrates Meets Jesus” both published by IVP.

My logics professor was convinced that Kreeft was Catholic. I couldn’t believe that a Catholic could write about Jesus the way Kreeft did. I am sure the Holy Spirit used those books to woo me back to my Mother.

I highly recommend Kreeft.

I know he has some collaborative work on Christian apologetics with Protestant theologians. I heard him once do a Q&A and he is rock solid Catholic.

I believe Peter Kreeft was a Protestant (minister) and converted to Catholicism as an adult. (I forget exactly how I know this. I think it is from a tape I have of his from Catholic Answers.)

Peter Kreeft is Fabulous with a capital “F”!! He’s Catholic but appeals to all Christians. Lee Strobel used him as one of his experts in his book “The Case for Faith”.

In Christ,
Nancy 🙂

I recall reading that he was a convert to Catholicism. But I do not recall how I know that.

Thanks so much, everyone, for your (name removed by moderator)ut.

I will look forward to reading some of the many books that Kreeft has written.

:tiphat: :blessyou:

He is, in my opinion, the Catholic C. S. Lewis. He couldn’t write a bad book if he tried with both hands for a week. Just the shear pleasure of reading his prose is enough recommendation, but the logic of his arguments brings tears to my eyes.

He is in my top 5 Theologians/Philosphers 🙂

Peter Kreeft is (or was until recently) a Professor of Philosophy at Boston College. Obviously, it was very difficult to get into his classes.

Many of his books are ecunemical especially the ones published under IVP an evangelical press house. These book can be given to any Christian without hesitation and with much agreement.

Your books by Ignatius have a more catholic bent to them and many are apologetically catholic.

Yes he is a convert and he quotes a lot of scripture many protestants like his IVP and many liken him to a modern CS LEWIS albeit a catholic instead of an anglican.
